Thursday - 4/28/16
- Final day for building with the goal of finalizing all products by the end of 2nd block. Groups should focus their work on creating a functional prototype for testing.
- Teams need to create a plan for testing their prototypes at the site including data collection on user experiences and the success/failures of the design. - Teams should make sure to have promotional material to help communicate the connection between their prototype and their groups larger plan for the public space. - Students had the opportunity for initial prototype testing on campus with core students rotating between the different projects. |
Group Work:
- Prototype Testing on Friday and over the weekend. Be sure to have a set schedule and forms for data collection. Classroom Access: - Saturday: Mr. Jolly will be available before and after the Windsor Day Parade. - Sunday: Mr. Vezino will be in his classroom from 10am - 1pm. |

Tuesday - 4/26/16
-Building continued with final stages of construction and refinement.
-The major component of the day is the focus on Prototype Testing. Project Managers and Media Marketers met with Fitz and received the overall instructions and requirements. The document can be found under "Media / Marketing Resources". |
Group Work:
Groups need to create a comprehensive data collection approach and participant recruitment plan for their prototype testing. These documents need to be submitted via GoogleDocs to Fitzgerald by Wednesday morning. -Photo and video documentation of the project needs to continue by Media/Marketing. -Media Marketing needs to keep updating the Team Weebly page. -Engineers need to work with Media Marketing to provide a detailed description of the functionality of the prototype (for inclusion in the prototype testing phase). -Project Managers need to reflect specifically on each team members grade and provide comments for the overall daily review by teachers. Project Managers should be creating a schedule for prototype testing and students that will be present to gather data and supervise the use of their project. |
Individual Work:
Blog Post #6: In addition to the standard requirements for the blog posts, please include a reflection on the upcoming Prototype Testing Days. What results do you think you and your group will see? -Today was our first full day of building. 1st and 2nd Block: Each team spent the first 30 minutes refining the construction sketches, student responsibilities and updating the Gantt chart for the work expected for today. After approval, all teams jumped in and began the building phase of the project. 3rd Block: 12:30-12:55 The last 30 minutes of building for the day! Groups finished current process and then regathered to compare Gantt charts and project plans with the actual progress made on the prototype build. 3rd Block : 1:00-1:30 Clean up and project storage time. Please return the rooms to their original states with all project components safely stored in the appropriate classroom. Make sure all tools and materials used outside of the classroom are brought back in during this clean up time. 3rd Block : 1:30-1:50 Project Managers- meet to download today'sGoogleDoc Assessement Form. - Today was the first day of bringing your designs to life including getting materials, finalizing project planning, and beginning construction. 1st and 2nd Block: Each team spent the first 45 minutes finalizing their purchase plans and preparing for construction. Group leaders and a representative from engineering spent an hour with Jim Churchill from Keysight discussion project management and team oversight. Two or three members of the engineering teams went to Home Depot to purchase materials. Media and Marketing group members worked on developing their prototype marketing plans and refining their documentation process of the project. 3rd Block: Each group started construction once they had received approval from the supervising teacher. Approval requires the following: 1) Detailed sketch of each construction piece including dimensions and material descriptions. 2) A detailed description of project timelines including goals to be achieved by the end each block. 3) A list of activities and responsibilities for each team member for which they can be evaluated. Monday - 4/18/16 OVERVIEW
-Today was all about diving in and getting to work in the pre-building phase. Here is how the plan for the day went: 1st Block: Each team rotated through three 30 power planning stations that covered topics like: Technology Integration, Factoring in Fun and Making the Product Interactive. Our hope was to prompt reevaluation and reincorporation of the "sustainable community" component of the essential question. 2nd and 3rd Block: Teams met in their core adviser's room to begin the breakdown of specific role assignments, project shopping list and cost of materials. Each group was responsible for completing a set of four documents and beginning one ongoing document prior to the end of the day. Project Managers carried the bulk of the responsibility in managing the planning and keeping group members on task during this planning time. Some groups revisited their sites to see if their newer design ideas would work in the physical space. |
